Right now, rheumatic heart disease is the most commonly acquired heart disease in people under age 25 (WHO, 2020). Meanwhile, there are no tools designed to specifically screen for it. We are living in a world where rheumatic heart disease claims over 288 348 lives each year - the large majority in low or middle-income countries (WHO, 2020). 

We are at Step One: Make a device that is able to be distributed in areas where there is a demand for clinicians trained to detect rheumatic heart disease.
